Adaptive Dynamics wants to study the evolution of traits of lifeforms.

This evolution is assumed to be driven by rare, and small mutations of the characteristic traits.

I will try to give a simple idea of the basics of Adaptive Dynamics, and explain my work on the classification of ESS bifurcation patterns in this context.
