There are a lot of conflicts in
the environmental problems and it is hard to find out the better way to
solve even one problem. For example, DDT had been used as a pestcide
for agriculture in many countries and, as the result, had been accumulated
through food web. Therefore DDT destroyed ecosystem and many countries
prohibit using DDT now. On the other hand, DDT is still used in some
tropical countries as a pestcide against malaria and other disease vectors.
Recently costs of spraying pyrethoid and prethoid-impregnated bednets,
which do less harm to ecosystem than DDT, are decreasing, and some countries
change using DDT into these alternatives. But DDT is still the cheapest
method for prevent malaria.
To deal with these trade-offs between
ecological problems, health risk and economy cost, I think Ecological risk/benefit
analysis is one the best method. This method has not been established
yet, so I start to establish it.
Studying human behaviour and its society from the evolutionary viewpoints, there are few data or results about the realtionship between them and fitness. Also these data are not easy to get. I think (or I want to think )that mathematical models and computer simulation help these studies for checking new hypothesis.
My recent interesting reseaches are below.
(1) How does the behavour, which is not directly related to fitness,
effect the fitness? As an example, we are researching about the effect
of spreading a rumor on evolution of cooperation.
(2) We propose a new (or strange?) hypothesis that transitive inference
can be evolved under uncertain situations where players can not get correct
information of others.
(3) How to accept a new value, new culture and new social
norm?
As you may know, mathematical models and computer simulation have a big fault. It means it is too far from the reality. So the feedback between model works, experimental works and field works is very important.
In the near future I hope I can work with experimental or field reseachers.
I will start to write it soon!
